100+ attend community meeting on solar farm

More than 100 people attended a community meeting last Thursday night at the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center where Strata Solar LLC officials answered questions and shared information about their plans to develop a solar energy facility on Route 14 near Toddsbury Lane.

While some raised concerns over such issues as the project’s buffering from neighboring property owners, others praised the solar farm proposal for its potential to generate clean energy.

The informal comments turn more formal tonight. The Gloucester County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the matter at 7:30 p.m. in the colonial courthouse; the regular meeting will begin at 7.

The commission will make a recommendation on the Strata application and forward it to the Gloucester Board of Supervisors, which will schedule a subsequent public hearing before taking a vote on the matter.
