Ware Academy graduated 10 students at its eighth-grade commencement ceremony held on June 2 at Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester.
Head of School Dawn Fleet addressed the graduates individually, encouraging each of them to set goals and pursue them. Del. Keith Hodges (R-Urbanna) was the guest speaker and he shared 10 tips for navigating their post-graduate years.
The Decade Award, for students who have attended Ware since pre-kindergarten, was given to Hannah Harris, Callie Penick, Brody Marshall and Katelyn Carnes.
The Faculty Award was given to the eighth grader who ended the year with the highest grade point average. Henry Fleet earned this award with a final GPA of 4.0. Fleet was also awarded the Heads Award for his contribution of academic achievement, leadership qualities and display of positive character.
Charli Miltenberger was awarded the Founders’ Award as the student who contributed the most to the school’s academic life.
