10 Gloucester athletes qualify for AAU Junior Olympics

Gloucester Youth Track, Field and Cross Country Club members and members of the Gloucester High School track and cross country teams were among the top finishers in the AAU Region 5 National Qualifier held Friday through Sunday at Gloucester High School. 

In the Gloucester results, taking first place in their events were Makala White in the 3,000 meter race, Mya Baker in the 1,500, Tanner Baker in the 1,500 and Aaron Shipe in the 800.

Zachary White was second in the 3,000, Joshua Shackelford was third in the 3,000 and fourth in the 800 and Emily Baker was fourth in the 1,500. Placing sixth were Shipe in the 400, Ethan Baker in the 800, Ruby Williams in the 800 and Andrew Wible in the 3,000.

All 10 of the local athletes qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics, which will be held July 31-Aug. 5 at Eastern Michigan University.
