Riptide places second in 3D sand soccer tournament

The Baystars Riptide White U11B team took second place in the 3D Sand Soccer Tournament held June 5 and 6 at Buckroe.

The ’Tide lost its opener, 4-2, to the Gray Wolves with both goals from Trey Cox. The team then beat the Islanders, 3-1, with goals from Austin Hansford, Caleb Johnson and Camden Heaton. The next day, the Riptide tied the Giant Jellies, 2-2, with goals from Tommy Warrington and Hansford, and advanced to the championship game in a count of goals allowed.

The ’Tide lost the championship game, 3-0, in a rematch with the Jellies. Riptide defensive leaders throughout the tournament were P.J. LeBel and Cody Tillage at sweeper and keepers Cameron Thompson and Hansford.
