Jayvee Dukes win soccer opener, 8-0

Dylan Wyco netted the first goal against Bruton within the first five minutes of the contest and scoring shots followed from teammates Cameron Cross, Justin Hansford, Blackstone Green and Tyler Busic. In the second half, Gloucester showed its depth as newcomers Kyle Rowe, Austin Williams and Nick Yarkey all put their names on the score sheet.
Throughout the game, the Dukes got strong defense from Austin Patrick, Carver Fisher and Tyler Lothian who prevented the Panthers from setting up any solid offensive plays. Gloucester coach Field Shepherd said he was pleased with his team’s performance. “I am very happy with how we played today. I saw many things in this game that bode well for the coming season. We will continue to work hard and prepare ourselves for a good year,” Shepherd said.
The junior Dukes will compete in the Garvey Tournament this weekend in Newport News. ...
