GHS was one of 47 schools taking part. The gold medal team in the men’s junior quad race covered the course in 4:57.7, beating Albemarle by 1.8 seconds and avenging a loss to Albemarle the week before in Mathews.

The men’s senior double of Hunter Emanus and Gage Holland also turned in an outstanding performance, earning a bronze medal in 5:30.5. Finishing out the medal performances for Gloucester, the men’s junior double of Jayden Jones and Ian Buswell also earned a bronze medal with a time of 5:58.2.

For Gloucester’s women, Ashleigh Dough, the last remaining member of Gloucester High’s women’s four that won state championships in 2015 and 2016, advanced from semifinals in the women’s senior single rowing as a lightweight, but finished just out of the medals in fourth place.

The women’s junior four of Kaley Price-Kaleikini, Emily Frayser, Bonnie Wilson, Rana Incze, and coxswain Alex Bontrager turned in a solid performance, but were unable to advance to the finals with a third-place finish in their heat.

Gloucester’s women’s senior single, men’s senior double, and men’s junior quad will finish the season by traveling to Philadelphia this week to compete in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the oldest and one of the largest high school regattas in the country.
