{image_2} Gloucester High School honored its 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees last week. They included former golf coach Jerry Morgan and his 1987 VHSL Group AA State Championship golf team.

Leading the team that year were Glenn Kaylor, Mark South, Robert Teagle, Joe Sibley, Brian Sterling and Tommy Healy. They shot a combined score of 663 to win the state championship by one stroke.

Other members of the 1987 golf team inducted were Rob Baldwin, Chris Denton, Chris DuPaul, Tyler Johnson, Steelman Ketchum, Ashley Long and Stephen Smith.

Also inducted was JaLeesa Osborne, who was named the GHS Most Athletic Female as a senior in 2006. Osborne led the GHS girls’ basketball team in steals and points scored and dominated defensively.

Osborne was a four-year varsity letter recipient in both basketball and track and field. As a long jumper, she placed second in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics as a junior and was fifth in the Group AAA state championships as a sophomore. She continued her sports at Roanoke College where she was a starting point guard and led the team in assists, steals and free throw percentage.
