The 2019 Christmas season is in full swing and Toys for Tots volunteers are working to make this season another huge success. Collection boxes are out and toys will be collected until Dec. 15.

Donations via check or credit card can be done by mailing a check to: P.O. Box 1930, Gloucester, Va. 23061 or online at www.gloucester-va.toysfortots.org

“The biggest blessing for us this season is that we have space to work,” reported local Toys for Tots coordinator Jodey Clements. White Marsh Properties LLC donated space in the White Marsh Shopping Center large enough to handle the 2019 Toys for Tots season.

“We don’t worry about storage as Safe Harbor Storage has taken care of that, we’ll just worry about year to year as it comes,” Clements said.

The local Middle Peninsula Toys for Tots impact has grown since its inception in 2009. 2018’s impact resulted in 67,698 toys being delivered to 16,925 children.

“There’s no way of knowing what the need will be this year, all we know is that we’ll still have it. The counts will be much lower as we are no longer able to accept gift in-kind tractor-trailers full of bulk toys though,” claimed Clements.

Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
