Hundreds of heroes and villains are expected to descend upon the Gloucester Main Library Saturday for the 4th Comix Con gathering. There will be plenty of fun for all ages during the event, which will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Sissi Mise, library specialist, who is organizing the event, said that  Comix Con’s focus is on people’s love for reading, comics and the community. It will feature costumes, workshops, activities, prizes and food. There will also be face-painting and crafts for children.

According to Mise, various areas of the library will be transformed for different activities and exhibits. Visitors will be welcomed by Jersey’s Cards and Comics, which is co-sponsoring the event with the library. “This wouldn’t be possible without their partnership,” Mise added.

She is excited about turning one of the library’s rooms into “Harry Potter Land.” Empire’s 501st Legion of Stormtroopers will also be guarding the premises.

The outdoor parking area of the library will feature the Bookmobile with Superhero Storytime. There will also be a YMCA obstacle course with tunnels for children to run in and find their way out of. Local food vendors such as Kona Ice, Knights of Columbus, Papa John’s and Shore Bites will also be out in the parking area to keep guests fed and hydrated.

According to Mise, prizes for costumes will be awarded during the event in various age categories, and participants must be present to win. She reminds participants to wear only appropriate costumes, as Comix Con is a family-friendly event.

New this year, Comix Cox has partnered with Village Lanes and Hillside Cinemas for an after-party event. For $20 per person, Village Lanes is offering unlimited bowling, shoe rental, combo meal and entry into Hillside Cinema from 2-8 p.m. The movie house will feature two films for Comix Con guests only, which will be “Reign of the Superman” and “Justice League vs. the Fatal Five.”
