More than dozen donors waited upwards of two hours due to a computer issue during an American Red Cross bloodmobile that was held May 28 at Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh. Despite the long wait, 53 units of blood were collected, falling short of its goal by only one unit. According to local Red Cross volunteer Mary Beth Mayer, 51 people signed in to donate, six gave power red donations and there were four deferrals. Four donors reached milestones—Thomas Snively (26 gallons), Sue West (six gallons), and Samantha Good and Ted Tyree (one gallon each). Gloucester’s next blood drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at the First United Baptist Church, White Marsh.
