The 21st annual Tour de Chesapeake cycling event returns to Mathews on Saturday. More than 450 cyclists are expected to come to the county that day with four routes taking participants to Mobjack, Bethel Beach, New Point Lighthouse, the Glebe and Gwynn’s Island, according to event director Lynda Smith Greve.

That evening from 5-9 o’clock, a Party at the Wharf will be held at Williams Wharf, with the public invited to participate.

Thomas Hunter Middle School will serve as tour headquarters.

Tour de Chesapeake is sponsored by Mathews County, Mathews County Visitor and Information Center and Mathews Land Conservancy.
