A 1999 Ford Explorer located in the 700 block of Tabernacle Road in Mathews was destroyed by fire on Monday. Ricky Tomlinson of Mathews Volunteer Fire Department said the vehicle, which had farm tags, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. They put out the fire, he said, including some scrap wood on a flatbed trailer in the yard. He said the residents of the home didn’t know how the fire started.
