Battleship

The Gloucester Public Library, Main Street Center, will bring the iconic board game “Battleship” to life, where participants play as ships, from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday. The program is for grades 6-12 and registration is required by calling 804-693-2998. The Friends of the Library supports the program.

Chili Cook-Off

February 02 2019, 4:30 PM

The annual Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad Super Bowl Chili Cook-off will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins. Tickets are $15, with children under 10 admitted free of charge. Tickets are available at the rescue squad building, the Mathews Visitor Center, Mathews Lawn and Garden, and Dozier’s NAPA.

Legion Breakfast

February 03 2019, 8:00 AM

American Legion Mathews Post 83 will hold its World Famous Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Sunday at the post home on Hookemfair Road, Hudgins.

NAACP

February 04 2019, 7:00 PM

The Gloucester chapter of the NAACP will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Ordinary. The meeting is open to the public.

King’s Daughters and Sons

February 05 2019, 10:00 AM

The North River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Gloucester Point home of Christine Evans. Penny Doyel and Terry Wilson will serve as co-hostesses.

Blood Drive

February 05 2019, 2:00 PM

A Red Cross blood drive sponsored by Central United Methodist Church will be held from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins.

County Board

February 05 2019, 6:30 PM

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse. A public hearing will begin at 7 o’clock on the county’s proposed CIP plan. 

Homemakers

February 06 2019, 9:30 AM

The Central Village Homemakers will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the fellowship hall of Central United Methodist Church, Mathews.

County Board

February 06 2019, 12:00 PM

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will have a work session on budget goals at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

Wetlands

February 06 2019, 7:00 PM

The Mathews County Wetlands Board will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

Planners

February 07 2019, 7:00 PM

The Gloucester Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 in the colonial courthouse.
