A Newport News man was sentenced last week to eight years in prison for drug trafficking and his role in stealing 52 firearms from a federally licensed firearms dealer in Gloucester in February 2017, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
According to court documents, Angel Lewis Bruno, 19, was part of a robbery crew that stole 52 firearms from Hunter’s Heaven gun store in Hayes on Feb. 12, 2017. Approximately nine days later, law enforcement apprehended all four defendants, including two who fled in a vehicle traveling over 100 miles per hour.
Bruno pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Another defendant, 28-year-old Alissha Shalee of Newport News, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a stolen firearm and was sentenced to three years’ probation.
