After 42 years, C.W. Miller steps down as Assistant Chief

C.W. Miller has been a familiar face in Gloucester for decades. Miller has served with Gloucester County Fire and Rescue for 56 years, 42 of those as Assistant Chief of Station Four, also known as the Harcum Station.

After all these years of dedicated service, C.W. Miller has decided to step down as Assistant Chief.

Five decades is a long time to do anything, let alone serve on a volunteer fire and rescue company. Five decades of being on call all hours of the day, dedicating one’s life to providing a service for the county requires a certain kind of person. Miller has been the definition of dedication since 1964, when he first joined Gloucester County Fire and Rescue.

Miller was raised in Harcum, just across the street from where the fire station is now. He grew up surrounded by good people, in a community where people were always willing to help their neighbor.
