About Us
The Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal is a weekly newspaper covering the people and events of Gloucester and Mathews counties in Tidewater Virginia. Our complete paper goes to press and online on Wednesday afternoon and carries a Thursday dateline. We were formed in 1937 by a merger of the Gloucester Gazette (1919) and Mathews Journal (1903).
