Rappahannock Community College president Elizabeth "Sissy" Crowther has announced that the school will suspend its baseball program in the 2013-2014 school year.
Crowther said it was a tough decision to make. "We cannot advance the sport of baseball at the college unless we can do a first-rate job with the activity," she said.
Recruiting players and providing support for them, such as housing and transportation, has proved exceptionally difficult in recent years, she said. "Time will tell if we are able in the future to revive a team," Crowther said. "But for now, we must help our baseball players make their plans for the coming couple of years."
