The Gloucester High School varsity Dukes are 0-2 in Peninsula District football after a 49-0 loss to visiting Hampton on Friday. The Crabbers scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first two quarters, one in the third and another pair in the fourth. Hampton quarterback David Watford tallied four of the TDs, passing for two and rushing for two.
The Gloucester offense was stymied, managing only one first down and moving the ball less than 20 yards against the Crabber defense. "We didn’t execute anything well on offense. We had a good game plan. We did face some fronts we didn’t expect, but it came down to us not being able to execute what we do," said GHS head coach Sonny Merchant.
