The Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team returned from the Christmas break in strong fashion, defeating AA opponent York High School 42-38 last Thursday night. The Lady Devils dropped games to Charles City and West Point.

MHS traveled Jan. 3 to York High School to face the Lady Falcons. Trailing 22-20 at the half, Mathews took the lead in the fourth quarter and maintained a four-point margin until the final buzzer.
