The Mathews High School cross country teams continued their unbeaten streaks by picking up wins last Wednesday at Northumberland. The Lady Devils advanced to 12-0, while the MHS boys improved to 13-0.
The Lady Devils demolished all competition, scoring 22 team points to defeat West Point (42), Lancaster (67) and Northumberland (forfeit). The Mathews boys ended the meet with 27 points, beating Lancaster (33), Northumberland (72), West Point (107) and Christchurch School (129).
The Blue Devils were missing some of their top runners on both sides, but still managed to achieve victory by pack running. "Our runners were rewarded for their toughness and I was proud of how they responded to such a challenging course," coach Drew Greve said.
