Fishing reports have been few and far between since Hurricane Irene stirred up area waters late last month.

However, Jerry Thrash with Queens Creek Outfitters, Cobbs Creek, reported that waters have cleared and there is a lot of feeding activity in the creeks. "Speckled trout are feeding heavily just after daylight and there are a lot of them in the Piankatank area and in the creeks," he said.

There have been no reports on flounder fishing, he said.

Thrash reported that large spot have moved in as have pan-sized gray trout. "Both are biting around Gwynn’s Island, on the Spike and in the Piankatank and Rappahannock river mouths," he added.
