The Mathews High School girls’ tennis team swept all three Tidewater District titles—the team crown, as well as the top singles and doubles players.

"This is a great accomplishment for these girls and they should go all the way to state, possibly in all three tournaments," said head coach LaDonna Crain. This is only the second time in Crain’s seven years of coaching that her team has swept the titles.

As a team, MHS went 14-1, losing only to York High School. Senior Morgan Sears, the Devils’ number-one seed, won the Tidewater District singles champion title. Sophomore twins Amy and Aly Collins, the number-one doubles team, won Tidewater District doubles championship.
