The Mathews High School varsity baseball team, which continues to lose players and call up replacements from the jayvee squad, fell to King William on Tuesday, 6-2.

Tuesday’s game at King William was a rematch of an April 14 contest that the Devils had won. This time around, things were a little different.

Mathews didn’t come off the bus ready to play. King William jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back. They scored their runs on walks, a hit batter and two hits. "It wasn’t pretty today," MHS head coach Nick Naglieri said.
