By The Gloucester High School cross country team kept its winning tradition alive with an impressive showing at the 2010 Peninsula District Cross Country championships last Thursday at Newport News Park.
Competing in a field of all 10 Peninsula District teams, the Gloucester boys took first place, and the girls earned second. Despite the wet, muddy course and humid air, the Dukes stepped up and ran impressive times, earning for both girls and boys a berth in the regional meet today.
Twins Kevin Speray (16:50) and Eric Speray (17:18) led the way for the Dukes, finishing third and fifth, respectively. They were closely followed by the rest of the Dukes’ top five, including Logan Pitchford (17:48) in ninth, Cameron Cross (17:58) in 12th, and Blake Waters (18:05) in 14th.
