A meeting is scheduled for Monday concerning Rappahannock Community College’s sports teams for men and women during the next academic year. The meeting will begin at noon in room 172 of the Glenns campus.
The school, which has recently suspended baseball competition, is considering a basketball program in the fall and a soccer program in the spring, a release said. Student activities coordinator Dean Taylor has announced that RCC will hold the meetings to answer questions, measure student interest and gauge community support for the teams. Current and new students who have an interest in either sport are encouraged to attend, the release said.
To participate in a sport, students must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average; incoming students are required to have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Participants must also be enrolled in at least six credit-hours’ worth of RCC courses during the semester in which the sport is played.
Taylor said those interested in coaching, or in helping to support these programs in other ways, should come to the campus at 1 p.m. Monday.
For those who cannot attend the meeting, another has been scheduled for July 16 at noon. For more information, contact Taylor at 804-333-6734 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
