YMCA to hold Super Sports Soccer program

Registration is underway for the Mathews Family YMCA’s Youth Super Sports Soccer program. The session runs from Aug. 30 through Oct. 30 at Thomas Hunter Middle School for boys and girls ages 4-15. The fee is $45 and the registration deadline is Aug. 27.

Today is the deadline to sign up for the Outdoor Adventure Camp for ages 10-15. The camp will run from Monday through next Thursday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Activities include field trips to the Lucky Lakes Gem Mine, Victory Family YMCA rock-climbing and swimming, an archeological dig with the Fairfield Foundation, Virginia Living Museum, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. The fee is $99.

Next Thursday, Aug. 12, is the deadline to sign up for the Spirit, Mind and Body Camp. This camp, for ages 9-12, is sponsored jointly by the Y, Bay School Cultural Arts Center and the Mathews Extension office. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will meet at the Bay School on main Street. The fee is $56.
