Gloucester 4-H member Megan Wilson-Bost closed out her decade in 4-H by earning champion honors in senior hunter showmanship during the Virginia 4-H Horse Show held this month in Lexington.

Wilson-Bost placed fourth in large pony hunter over fences course A and seventh in course B, sixth in large pony equitation over fences and in the top 10 in the hippology knowledge competition.

Other Gloucester competitors with top awards included Trey Cox who was the reserve champion in the junior handler miniature division and the high point winner in the knowledge challenge. Ananiesa Brantley was the reserve champion in lite shod walking horse and Kayleigh Drudge was the reserve champion in small/medium pony hunter over fences. Also, John Jones was named the most valuable volunteer.

The Gloucester youths dominated the horse knowledge competitions of hippology, horse bowl and horse judging to lead the 4-H Southeast District to its first District Challenge Award. The perpetual trophy will be on display at the Gloucester Extension office until November when it will go to the Southeast District office in Richmond until the 2013 state horse show.
