Water temperatures right for Spanish mackerel

Anglers have seen a mixed bag of fish over the past week, according to Jerry Thrash of Queens Creek Outfitters, Cobbs Creek.
"Water temps are still near 80 in the rivers and creeks and that is a temperature Spanish mackerel are comfortable in," Thrash said.
The store weighed a citation fish Tuesday that was caught trolling on Windmill Bar. "This is the only citation Spanish we have seen this year," Thrash said. "Seeing a big Spanish is a reminder of all the bluefish and drum still in the bay with this unusually warm water."
Thrash reported that Cliff Canada of White Stone, caught a 4-pound, 6-ounce Spanish mackerel citation last Tuesday at Windmill Bar.
