The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hosted the first of two Mud Bog and Mud Slings for the 2010 season this past Saturday.

The Mud Mayhem Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by Rappahannock Tractor and the Virginia Army National Guard drew a large crowd and huge field of competitors at the state-of-the-art mud-bog facility in Jamaica.

The warm temperatures and sunny skies provided a tremendous day for mud bogging with track records being set in two of the eight divisions. Ninety-two different competitors took turns at the state-of-the-art 200-foot pit for a total of 142 completed passes.

Winners in each class were: Stock A—Phil Parrish in Swamp Thing; Stock B—Brian Edberg in Mouse Trap; Modified A—Kenny Crowder in Mr. Nasty Time 2; Modified B—Ryan Anderson in Son Uva Digger (New class track record at 5.202 seconds); Modified C—Herby Dorsett in Just Plyin’ (new class track record at 4.844 seconds); Unlimited Bog—Ricky Crowder in Muddy Money; X Cuts—Chris Newton in Hostile Projectile; and XX Paddles—Chris Newton in Hostile Projectile. Tom Johnson in Mudderfinger took top Nitrous/Injector bonus in both the X Cut class and XX Paddle class.

The speedway returns to its normal racing action Saturday when it hosts Chandler Chevrolet Night at the Races, with four divisions competing. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. On-track activities start at 6:30 with hot laps.
