New leadership seeks to energize GHS Boosters
The Gloucester High School Athletic Booster Club has fresh leadership this year. "We’re really looking to put some spirit back into the Booster Club," said new co-president Ellen Leigh, who heads the Boosters with co-president Ellen Wilson.
Gloucester has a new athletic director this year with the promotion of former athletic trainer Kristy Hunter. The Dukes also have several new coaches, and Leigh would like to see some new members in the Boosters Club.
"We’re looking forward to working with athlete parents, Kristy and GHS coaches to promote Duke spirit, increase financial support for team programs and scholarships, increase student and parental participation and assist coaches in a positive season. We’re excited for new ideas for our athletic programs," Leigh said.
The Booster Club is open not only to parents and students but also to anyone who wants to come out to help support GHS athletics. The club usually meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month in the GHS Duke Rock Cafe.
