Rudy and Daniel Michaud took first place in the Big Bash Open Bass Tournament series event held Saturday at Beaverdam Park. The pair weighed in 18 pounds, four ounces of bass. Second place went to Ricky West and Jerry Jenkins with 16 pounds, 12 ounces.

Bill and Gene Johnson were third in the tourney, Brian and Chris Eckstein were third, and Clarence Jenkins and Chuck Conger were fourth. Conger had the big fish of the day with a five pound, 10 ounce bass. The series continues in September.

The warmer temperatures are changing the fishing conditions in Beaverdam Reservoir, according to park supervisor Blair Evans. Evans said fish are beginning to move to the deeper portion of the lake, although early morning anglers may have some luck fishing the top water. He said anglers looking to fish in deeper water have the best luck using crank baits and rubber worms.

Evans said anglers fishing from the pier and banks are beginning to catch more bluegill and smaller sized crappie are also still being caught.
