In Tuesday’s final regular season home game for the Mathews High School varsity volleyball team, the Lady Devils had little trouble with West Point, defeating the visiting Pointers 3-0, with scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-22.

Also during the game, the Devils honored its graduating seniors—Amber Burruss, Rachel Close, scorekeeper Amanda Hudgins, Maddie McCann, Mackenzie Moughon, and Shelby Ware—as part of the Senior Night celebration.

In the win, the MHS girls served aggressively and passed well. Their offense wasn’t as fierce as it usually is, but it was certainly not lacking. Top servers for the Devils were Ware with six aces, Moughon with three and Anna Hudgins with two.

Maddie McCann dominated the net with 11 kills, followed by Moughon (six), Kai McCann (three) and Burruss, Hannah Rowe and Whitney Eriksen (two each).

Close and McCann led the Devils’ defense with seven digs each for the night, followed by Moughon with five and Rowe with three. Ware led the team in assists with 15.
