MHS beats Cavaliers 10-2 in softball
After almost two full weeks without playing any games, the Mathews High School varsity softball team finally took the field again, traveling to King William on Tuesday. Mathews posted a 10-2 win to improve to 2-0 in the Tidewater District.
As the visiting team, Mathews hit first and immediately put pressure on the Lady Cavaliers’ defense and pitching as leadoff hitter Sharese Jarvis bounced the ball off the outfield fence, even though she was thrown out at second base.
With two outs, Virginia Scatchard drove a ball to right field for a double and Lindsay Crigler followed with a double of her own to left field to take a 1-0 lead.
