The Mathews High School golf team is off to a 1-1 start. After losing to a highly-rated King William team in the season opener, the Blue Devils rebounded with a win over Middlesex on Aug. 28.
"We are very young and inexperienced," said new coach Pal Jackson. Against King William, Mathews was led by juniors Jacob Jackson (42) and Dillon Roane (60) in the nine-hole competition. "No one played to their potential, but we’re just getting started and King William is a very good team," Jackson said.
