The annual Virginia/West Virginia Croquet District Tournament was played June 20-24 on the Middle Peninsula Croquet Club grounds in Redart. This marked the first time in its 20-year history that the tournament was played in the eastern part of the district.

Twenty-nine players from eight clubs competed in singles and doubles during the tournament, which was played on three courts.

Zack Watson of the North Mountain Croquet and Tennis Center near New Market took the championship singles title. Watson defeated Barry Williams of the Buckingham Croquet Club in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Rodney Lassiter of the River View Club in Suffolk took the first-flight championship, beating John Lee of the host club. The second-flight championship was claimed by newcomer Rick Darnell of the Middle Peninsula club, beating out fellow club member Dennis Koziol.

Conrad Haas and Matthew Essick from the River View Club won the championship doubles, beating Randy Synan of Confederate Hills in Richmond and Lassiter. The first-flight doubles title went to newcomer Doug Nagel and veteran Jim Coling, both of the host club. They defeated Marie Haas and Becky Essick of River View.
