Still undefeated, Gloucester High School varsity field hockey players improved to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the Peninsula District with a pair of wins in recent action. Eight of the Lady Dukes 10 wins, and all of their PD victories, have been shutouts.

Gloucester only scored once but that was all it would take to get by a feisty Menchville team on the GHS field on Sept. 22. Morgan Sadler scored the game winner early and the Gloucester defense held on from there. The Lady Dukes’ defenders and their goalkeeper were particularly impressive in fending off Menchville’s late-game attempt to tie the contest and force overtime play.

The Dukes had an easier time at Granby on Friday, coming away from the non-district contest with a 3-0 victory. Sadler, Courtnie Greene and Rhiannon Miller scored in the win.
