Gloucester High School golfers Zach Robb and Kyle Rowe are headed to the Group AAA State Golf Tournament next week after finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Eastern Region Tournament in Virginia Beach on Tuesday.
After placing fifth on the first day of the two-day tournament, the Gloucester High School team had a good outing Tuesday and pulled to a third-place tie with Kellam. The Dukes missed a team bid to the state event by just seven strokes, finishing with 627 behind Cox with 620 and the winners from Grassfield with 612.
In the regional tourney, Robb posted a two-day score of 153, Rowe had 154, Dylan Hogge had 164 and Zack Kounse shot 165. Also golfing for Gloucester were Hector Rios and Larry Brown.
The Dukes entered the regional as the Peninsula District champions. They won that title, the fifth consecutive district crown for GHS, on Sept. 26 at The Hamptons where they won the eighth and final PD match of the season.
