GHS golfers hold 17-stroke advantage
Gloucester High School golfers lead all of their Peninsula opponents after opening the season with a pair of match wins. The Dukes hold a 17-stroke advantage over second-place Warwick going into their next match scheduled for Tuesday at Kiskiack Golf Club.
After two outings, Gloucester had posted 743 strokes, followed by Warwick with 760, Menchville with 773 and Woodside with 805. Woodside golfer Olivia Ritz let the individual standings with an average of 79. GHS golfer Cameron Baker is second with 84 and teammate David Grimm is fifth with 86.
The golfers opened the season Aug. 12 with a win at Kiln Creek. The Dukes posted a team score of 376 paced by C. Baker with an 88. Grimm followed with 89, Trent Green shot a 95 and Skyler Blowe shot 104. Grady Baker and Lathan Burnette also represented Gloucester in the match.
