Jacob Houston went two-for-three with a triple, an RBI and a run scored as Gloucester got by Denbigh, 3-1, in the final baseball game of the Peninsula District regular season at GHS on Friday. The win put the Dukes at 7-11 in the PD and 8-12 overall and gives them the eighth seed heading into the PD Tournament.

Gloucester collected its runs from the Patriots early on and held on to win. After Adam Baldwin drew a first-inning walk, Jacob Houston drove him home with a triple down the right field line. Houston then scored on an infield single from Brian Belvin.

In the second inning, Aaron O’Neil led off with single and Hector Rios came in to pinch run for him. Perry Morris then executed a perfect sacrifice bunt down the first base line, allowing Rios to round second and head on to third. After making the out at first, the Denbigh pitcher made an errant throw to third which allowed Rios to score.
