GHS boys split pair of soccer games
The Gloucester High School varsity boys split a pair of games in recent soccer action. The Dukes fell at Warwick, 3-1, on Friday but blanked Bethel, 2-0, in Newport News on Monday.
Friday night against the Raiders, the Dukes went up early as captain Trip Vaughan threaded a pass through the defense to Austin Williams on a streaking scoring run up the sideline.
Warwick responded with a pair of goals to go up 2-1 before Gloucester keeper Ryan Mahoney received a yellow card after a collision with a Warwick attacker. Mahoney then received a red card for objecting to the call.
Playing a man down, the Dukes conceded a final goal in the second half for a 3-1 loss.
