Flounder biting in the York River
The York River has been producing a pretty good flounder bite over the last couple of weeks, according to Chuck Ashe with York River Feed and Fishing Supplies, Inc., Gloucester Point. Fish have been reported around the Coleman Bridge and across the river around the Yorktown refinery.
In other fishing news, spot and croakers are still around, Ashe added, but there have been no real cobia bites to mention yet this season.
Ashe reported that Jimmy Leiffer of Hayes, caught a 49-inch red drum qualifying for a release citation in the Baltimore Channel last week.
Jerry Thrash of Queens Creek Outfitters at Cobbs Creek, reported that flounder fishing was hit or miss this week in the Buoy 42/Cell areas. "Again, while we weighed no citations this week, several boats had limits of fish; some of which approached citation size," Thrash said.
