Dukes run into second-half troubles; fall to Warriors, 45-17
Still looking for a win in the Peninsula District, Gloucester lost to visiting Kecoughtan, 45-17, on Friday.
"We played even with them except for two turnovers. It was a little bit of a repeat of last week, when a couple of turnovers set up scores. A couple of big turnovers negate 340 yards of offense," said Gloucester coach Sonny Merchant.
The Dukes played the Warriors to a 10-10 halftime tie, but the third quarter belonged to Kecoughtan. The Warrior defenders produced two of the three Kecoughtan touchdowns in the period, running back an interception 89 yards for a score and returning a Gloucester fumble 25 yards for another TD. The Warriors scored twice more in the final period, while the Dukes only managed one second-half score.
