Dukes fall to Phantoms, shut out Crabbers in soccer
The Gloucester High School boys’ varsity soccer team rebounded from its 7-0 loss to Phoebus on April 12 with a 6-0 win over visiting Hampton on Friday. The Dukes played a strong game from the start, allowing the visitors few chances, all of which were scooped up by goalkeepers Lee Loudermilk and Diggar Millard.
Offensively, Gloucester pressured early on with senior Cody Weaver netting a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes. Brandon Splitt and sophomore Kyle Rowe took just a few minutes to double the lead, with both goals coming from deflections off the Hampton keeper. Roy Armstrong and Weaver secured the win in the second half with a goal apiece.
