VMRC launches new Fisherman ID Program

The Virginia Marine Resources Commission has launched its new Fisherman Identification Program to register saltwater anglers who fish legally without a saltwater fishing license.

Devils lose heartbreaker to Raiders, beat Tigers

The Mathews High School varsity boys’ basketball team went 1-1 following the Christmas break, losing a 56-54 heartbreaker on Monday night to the Rappahannock Raiders and beating King and Queen on Tuesday, 63-54.

Lady Devils Top Tigers

After a two-week Christmas break, complete with games cancelled due to the snowstorm, the Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team returned to the court Monday to face King and Queen in their first district contest of the season.

Jayvee Devils beat Tigers, 37-29

The Mathews High School jayvee boys’ basketball team won its Tidewater District opener on Tuesday, beating the visiting King and Queen Tigers, 37-29.

GHS winter track teams place at PD opener

Gloucester High School winter track athletes had a successful Peninsula District opener on Dec. 20 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.
