Certificate program offered on historic preservation

Rappahannock Community College’s Department of Workforce Development is partnering with the Menokin Foundation, Stratford Hall, the Foundation for Historic Christ Church, George Washington’s Birthplace, and the Fairfield Foundation to offer a six-course certificate program in historic preservation.

Classes for the program during the fall 2010 semester will be taught by staff members of the partner historic sites, said Sarah Pope, executive director of the Menokin Foundation.

Course offerings will include history and theory of historic preservation; archeology field survey techniques; historic building materials and construction techniques; history of architecture, as well as elective courses, including those on historic timber framing and historic landscapes.
