The Gloucester County School Board unanimously appointed Troy M. Andersen to the Gloucester Point district seat on the board last Thursday following interviews with the four candidates for the post.
Andersen’s term begins on Monday and he will attend his first meeting as a school board member on Tuesday. His term ends on Dec. 31, 2013 when the candidate elected to the seat in the November general election takes the position.
"My motivation for seeking appointment is very simple. I am a product of Gloucester’s public school system. I feel like the K-12 education I received set me up for success in both my undergraduate coursework at Randolph-Macon College and also in graduate school at Christopher Newport University. I want to ensure that my kids and all the rest of the youth in the county receive that same quality of education," Andersen said in his application letter.
