Petsworth Elementary School presented a Quilt of Valor to U.S. Army Green Beret SSG Robert Dove on Nov. 12. It is one of more than 200 quilts that members of River Country Quilters have made and distributed through the Quilts of Valor program.

A 2005 graduate of Gloucester High School, Dove was wounded in Afghanistan in June after hitting an improvised explosive device while driving a dirt bike on a combat reconnaissance patrol.

Dove’s military awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He is temporarily residing in Washington, D.C., until he returns to his unit, 7th Special Forces Group, stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
