Jesse Pearsall of Hayes, and Christina Sherman and Austin White of Gloucester, were among the 37 high school students who completed the 21st annual Junior Law Cadets Program at the Virginia State Police Academy in Chesterfield on July 16.
The program provides a week of training for rising high school seniors. Cadets experience a life similar to a trooper-in-training, with daily room inspections and instruction by state troopers in department operations, crime scene investigation, officer survival, undercover operations, driver improvement, scuba, defensive tactics and firearms safety. The cadets also undergo a variety of physical agility exercises used in the VSP applicant testing process.
The American Legion selects and sponsors the students in the program.
