Gloucester High School seniors Courtney Campbell and Kelsey Bridges and juniors Bailey and Molly Carrington competed in the FFA State Horticulture Demonstration on Oct. 2 during the Virginia State Fair in Doswell.
The teens represented the GHS FFA chapter in the event and paired up to present a plant-related demonstration to four judges. They also had to answer questions from the judges following their demonstration.
Campbell and Bridges demonstrated their herb butter project. They planted the herbs, harvested them and added them to sticks of butter. The butter was hardened into molds and packaged for sale under the brand name "Kelsey’s Better Butter," which is available for purchase. The girls placed sixth among 22 teams.
