The Gloucester Education Association this week announced its endorsements of local candidates in the November general election.
For the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors, the GEA endorsed at-large independent candidate Grant Keller over Republican John Meyer Jr. in the race for the seat now held by Louise Theberge. The group also endorsed Petsworth Magisterial District candidate Michael Jenkins over Michael Winebarger, both independents.
The GEA did not make an endorsement in the race among three independent candidates for the York district seat. All of the candidates for supervisor are non-incumbents and GEA president Brian McGovern said their endorsements involved an interview process in which the candidates responded to questions regarding current public education issues.
For the Gloucester County School Board, the GEA endorsed incumbents Troy Andersen of the Gloucester Point district and Anita Parker of the Petsworth district, along with at-large newcomer Charles Records, who is seeking the seat now held by Ann Burruss. All three are unopposed.
McGovern said the incumbent endorsements were based on voting records and publicly stated positions.
